Frequently asked questions
Open the create flow by tapping the plus (+) icon and choosing Reel, then tap the music note icon and open the Trending tab to see the top sounds Instagram refreshes every few days. You can also watch for a small upward arrow next to a song name while scrolling, which marks a sound that is climbing.
Business profiles have a smaller music library than personal or creator accounts because of licensing limits, so some popular tracks may appear greyed out. Switching your account type is a common way to unlock a wider selection of songs for your Reels.
The small upward arrow shown next to the artist and song name in the bottom-left corner of a Reel means that sound is currently trending and gaining momentum. It is Instagram’s quick signal that the audio is worth using soon.
Tap the song name at the bottom of any Reel to open its audio page, then tap Use audio to start filming your own clip with that track, or tap Save audio to keep it for later. Saved sounds appear in the audio picker so you can find them quickly next time you post.
Aim to post within about a day or two of spotting a rising sound. Trending audio gives the strongest boost while it is still climbing, so catching it early and posting quickly usually leads to more reach than waiting until it is everywhere.
