Likee Did Not Break Overnight, Your Region Decides What the App Shows You

If your Likee video feed has been replaced by live streams, four different things produce that same empty screen and they end very differently. In Indonesia, Likee began ending its short video service on 27 April 2026, which took the feed, video posting and the earnings attached to that feed with it, while Likee Live carried on running. Outside Indonesia the short video product still exists. So an empty feed elsewhere means the app has reordered what it shows first, or a rollout reached your copy of the app early, or something is limited on your own account. Work out which one you have before you wait for a fix, because only one of these is temporary.

Settle which country your app thinks you are in before anything else

Region on Likee is decided by your account and by the network you are on, and those two do not always agree. Someone who registered in Jakarta and now lives in Doha can be served the Indonesian experience. Someone travelling can be served the local one. That mismatch is why you will find people insisting the video feed is dead while others post fresh clips the same afternoon, and both of them are telling the truth about their own screen.

Open your own profile link in a signed out browser window on a laptop. That view is the closest thing to a neutral second opinion you can get without asking anyone for help.

If your account is Indonesian, the honest answer is that the feed is not coming back

Take this one seriously, because there is money attached to it. What ended was the short video half of the product. The scrolling feed went, posting short video went, and the earning tied to that feed went with them. Live streaming stayed, which is why the app still opens and still works and still shows you people broadcasting. This was never a bug waiting to be rolled back, and no amount of reinstalling will restore the feed on an Indonesian account.

The timing sits inside a wider squeeze on short video in Indonesia through 2026, where child safety rules pushed every large platform to change what under age users could reach. Likee’s response was to stop offering the short video service there rather than rebuild it.

Two things need doing quickly if that describes you. Check your Beans balance and withdraw anything that clears the minimum, because earned currency is the part with real money behind it. Then look at your Diamonds, which is the currency you bought, and understand that no refund route has been published for it. Anything you paid for is only useful inside the app.

Everywhere else the short video product still exists and Likee is simply leading with Live

Here is the cleanest public evidence, and you can check it yourself in about a minute. As of August 2026 the Apple App Store listing still carries Video and Chat in the app’s own name alongside Live, still shows the subtitle Short Video & Live Streams, and still sells short video in the description, on version 5.63.0. The Google Play listing for the same application reads as Likee, Live, Chat & Party Games. One app, two stores, two different stories about what it is for.

That gap is the repositioning showing through. Live and games are being pushed to the front of the app, so on many builds the tab that opens on launch is Live and the video feed has moved a tap away rather than disappeared. Look along the tab strip at the bottom and the top. Check whether there is a Following or Explore tab hiding behind an arrow. Then open your own profile and look at the grid, because if your old videos are still sitting there, nothing was deleted.

The update you installed did not delete your videos

There is a very tidy explanation going round comment sections. Version 5.58.0 wiped everyone’s old videos, and if you had only stayed on the previous build you would still have them. It has the shape of a real answer. You were expecting me to confirm it, right? The release notes for 5.58.0 say bug fixes and performance improvements, and that is the entire entry. The notes for 5.57.0 and 5.55.0 say the same thing. Nobody announced a retention change, because there was not one to announce.

What actually removes old videos runs quietly and predates every one of those releases. Duplicate detection collapses reuploads of the same clip. Moderation removes individual videos without much of a notice. Display glitches after an update hide content for a day or two and then clear on their own. An account level restriction can also empty a profile, and that one looks exactly like the regional shutdown from the inside.

Four tests that separate an account problem from a regional one

  • Open your profile in a signed out browser. If a stranger can see your videos, the videos exist and your app is the thing behind.
  • Ask someone in another country to open the same profile link. A different result on their screen points straight at region.
  • Try to post a short video. Where the service has ended, posting is blocked rather than slow.
  • Sign in to a second account on the same phone. If that one gets a video feed and yours does not, the restriction is on your account.
What you see What it usually means What to do
Only Live tabs, no feed, posting blocked, Indonesian account Short video service ended in your region Withdraw Beans, back up videos, plan for Live or another platform
Feed missing but posting still works Interface reordered around Live and games Look for the video tab, update the app, check Explore
Your videos visible to others but not to you Display fault after an update, or a cache problem Sign out, clear cache, wait a couple of days before panicking
Nobody can see your videos and your profile grid is empty Account level restriction or moderation removals Use in app Help and Feedback and ask which videos were removed

If you were earning on Likee, deal with the money before the videos

Beans are what you earned from gifts and activity. Diamonds are what you or your viewers paid for. Only the first of those converts back into real money, and only above a minimum threshold that varies by region. Withdraw first and investigate afterwards. Screenshot your balance with the date on screen before you do anything else, because a dated screenshot is the only proof you will have if the balance moves while support is taking its time.

Backing up the videos you actually care about

Download them one at a time from your own profile, over wifi. Bulk exports on mobile data have a habit of timing out halfway and leaving you with half a catalogue. Start with the videos that carry comments or view counts you would be sad to lose, and screenshot those numbers separately, since the download gives you the clip and nothing around it.

If the feed has genuinely ended where you are, the useful move is to take that backed up catalogue somewhere short video still runs and keep the same handle, so the people who followed you can find you by searching the name they already know. Likee Live is still there if broadcasting suits you. Waiting for the feed to come back is the one option with nothing at the end of it.
